Why You'll Want To Read More About Best Coffee Machine
The Best Coffee Machines For Home

There is no one-size-fits-all coffee machine. We've compiled our top picks, from a superautomatic that grinds your beans and packs them to semi-automatic machines that give you the most control over your espresso.

The Breville Oracle Touch is the perfect blend between automation and the need to be able to master the art of espresso-making. It's the best bean-to-cup machine we've found.

1. Rocket Appartamento

Rocket Appartamento is a top choice for those looking to make espresso at home without having to make significant sacrifices in terms of quality. This prosumer espresso machine is designed with limited counter space in mind and offers top-quality build and tiny footprint. It comes equipped with a 1.8-liter copper heat exchange boiler and commercial E61 group head so you can steam milk and make espresso at the same time.

The machine looks stunning as well, and has an elongated side panel with the engraved steam and hot water spouts. This is a modernization of Rocket's original design which is already impressive for a compact appliance. It also has a black pressure gauge that shows when the boiler is ready to use.

The drip tray and the water reservoir tray are smaller on this machine than other models. This means you'll have to be vigilant about emptying and refilling the machine, especially when you are using it regularly. This is a cost that comes with having a smaller footprint. This isn't something that is unique to this model.

You can still brew plenty of coffee using this machine, and it can easily meet the demands of your customers. We would suggest investing in a quality grinder, such as the Baratza Sette Gigante for increased consistency and flavor. You can also use the machine in conjunction with a Rocket Portafilter to improve the tamping.

Rocket Appartamento, as a prosumer machine, can make excellent drinks and is easy to create Latte arts. It's important to note that the machine was not designed for novices and there's a bit of a learning curve for those who are upgrading from appliance-grade machines. The heat exchange boiler could be a bit tricky to manage, and you will have to learn the ins and outs of cooling flushes.

Both the Lelit Bianca and the Rocket Appartamento offer the option of connecting to a water source, that means you will always have cold, fresh water that has been filtered for your drinks. The latter has a 2.25-liter water tank that can be more difficult to refill than some of its competitors.

2. Lavazza A Modo Mio Jolie

This machine is built to Lavazza's highest standards. The machine can reach the temperature for brewing quickly, meaning you can prepare your first cup in just 35 seconds. The water tank is quick and easy to fill, with the lid detaching completely to create a large opening. You can also fill it up with tap water if that's what you prefer.

The Lavazza A Modo Mio is the smallest of the series, yet it packs a punch. It's priced less than PS100 at full price and is much less expensive than the Nespresso Essenza or similar machines from SMEG or Desea. The Jolie is a great alternative for those who do not have the space or money for traditional espresso machines, but nevertheless want to drink the authentic Italian espresso.

The Jolie is incredibly simple to operate and takes up very little counter space. You just need to press one button to turn on the machine and again to start dispensing your chosen brew. There's a backlight that's on the button so that you can clearly see the amount of liquid that has been dispersed and you can choose to manually stop the process should you prefer to drink your drink in smaller portions.

There's no steam wand on this model, however you can make use of an optional milk frother (available separately) to add some creamy froth, if you'd like. The machine is quite quiet, too, and can be used in a small space or in a flatshare kitchen without causing any disturbance to anyone else.

The pods aren't cheap, but they come in a wide range of blends that can be used by anyone from the mildest espresso drinker to the most demanding. You can find them in many supermarkets, as well as regular grounds coffee and coffee beans. You can also buy Lavazza A Modo Mio Compatible pods on the internet.

The Jolie and milk is a sleek capsule machine that comes with an integrated milk warmer. It comes with a 75cm plug and power cable, a warranty card and a quick reference, and a test pack of nine Lavazza pods. Six are roasted (two Qualita Rossa and two Lungo Dolce) and two are decaffeinated. The machine is small enough to fit under a cupboard or flat surfaces.

3. Breville BES870XL

The Breville Barista Express appears to be a high-priced espresso machine. But if you're willing to put in the work to master its use this is a great do-it-all home espresso maker that performs better than some of the more expensive models available. It's the most affordable in its class, and is especially suitable for those who do not have an espresso maker yet, which could set them back another $100 or more.

The model is just in the middle of the range for Breville (their Oracle is the most expensive, costing $2,199) however, it's an excellent option for baristas at home who are on a tight budget. It delivers plenty of tweakable features, and it even has a built-in burr grinder, making the entire experience cheaper. It's also a one-boiler machine, which means that it can only perform one task at a time.

Breville is relatively new to the market for espresso machines, has swiftly earned a reputation for its high-quality appliances. This machine is no different and it comes with enough control to let new baristas develop their skills without spending hundreds more than they need to.

There are some quirks, though. coffee machines online is on the side, not the top, of this model. It's not a big deal, but can be a hassle if you need to give several shots at a time. It's also not very easy to know how much water remains in the tank because of its position at the rear.

If you're willing to invest some time learning how to master the Breville Barista Express, it's an excellent, all-purpose appliance for anyone who is a coffee lover at home. The only drawback to the Breville Barista Express is its cost, which may be a deterrent for some buyers. For those looking for a lower-cost alternative, take a look at our review of the Gaggia Classic or the La Pavoni Impresso. Both machines are similar in capability and provide a bit more control than the Barista Express. However, they cost less than the price.

4. OXO Brew 9 Cup

A high-tech, intelligent coffee maker that makes excellent coffee using a simple interface. Its sleek stainless steel design and backlit LED screen give an elegant appearance to your kitchen. It has one dial to set the amount of cups you want it to make and includes the 2-4 cup setting as well as a 5-9 cup setting. Its brewing technique is similar to pour-over, which many coffee lovers believe makes the best-tasting coffee. The water is heated up to the right temperature, then evenly distributed over the coffee grounds with a shower head. The coffee that is brewed is collected in the double-walled thermal carafe, which can be stored for up to 60 min. Its pause and pour feature lets you remove the carafe in brewing and fill your individual cup. The machine pauses the brewing process and displays an red light on its LED interface, until you return the carafe. The machine then begins the brewing process.

The OXO 9-Cup coffee maker comes SCAA certified, meaning it meets the strict technical standards. Its brew cycles are about the same as the Bodum Bistro and Technivorm Moccamaster 741 but it allows for more control over temperature and brewing times.

In our testing we found that the OXO Brew 9-Cup made an excellent drip coffee that was served in a full-carafe in 7 minutes and 41 seconds. This is a bit more than the time that the Bonavita Connoisseur or the Moccamaster requires, but within the range that coffee experts recommend to make a good cup.

It also requires that you grind your own beans prior to brewing. You can make use of a manual coffee grinder, or opt for a more automatic model such as the Baratza Encore, which has various grind settings as well as a hopper that holds whole beans.

The only drawback is that the carafe and water reservoir aren't dishwasher-safe and could cause issue for some users. The stainless steel is still easily cleaned by hand, though. The OXO 9-Cup is a leading contender for the top drip coffee maker due to its sleek design and simple to use interface.
