IMPORTANT: Change computer name per protocol (sti-imac-XX/sti-mbp-XX) prior to installing remote software (CHECK LABTECH, KASEYA, AND LMI!)
Click apple logo top left>System Preferences>Sharing. VERIFY IT CHANGED BEFORE INSTALLING LT OR LMI.
Physically label the computer (put label at bottom right of stand base)
Create Accounts
Apple Logo>System Preferences>User and Accounts>Click the Lock, unlock
click the (+) sign, create new administrator account, TechMD/[Lab Pass]
click the guest account "Allow guest account", disable parental controls, allow sharing, verify
Install applications
⌘+K, (smb://techmd-mdt/prep essential files/clients/STI/)
Copy "All Mac Installers" folder to Downloads folder.
Filemaker Pro 14v2 Mac - Run installer
STI LogMeIn (Mac) - Run Installer
STI LabTech Mac - Run Installer
Lync_14.11 - Run Installer
Caffeine - Copy to /Applications, run, check all 3 boxes off
itineris.fmp12 - IMPORTANT: Copy to / (⌘+N, ⌘+Shift+C to open new window at root)
Fix Permissions
Open Terminal (⌘+Space, type "Terminal"), enable root user and log in:
dsenableroot
username = Steve Dobbs
user password: [STI pass]
root password: [Lab Pass]
verify root password: [Lab Pass]
su
[Lab Pass]
To allow Caffeine to be used by all users:
chown root /applications/caffeine.app
chmod 755 /applications/caffeine.app
To allow Itineris accessible by all users:
chmod 755 /itineris.fmp12
To allow access to stevedobbs downloads folder by all users:
chmod -R 755 /users/stevedobbs/downloads
Run updates
Click Apple Logo top left>App store>Update All>Cancel Sign in>Download & Restart>Cancel Sign In>Restart
NOTE: if it doesn't given to the "Download and Restart option", and just cancels then the only updates left required Apple ID. Ignore these.
Test, finalize, Document
Remote in with LMI
Have an LT admin move them to the correct site (Mac's always get added to a TechMD default folder in LT)
Log in to Guest account, make sure you can use itineris, caffeine, lync
Running "Inventory List" is located in smb://techmd-mdt/depot share/clients/STI/Inventory List.
Document computer specs, location, kind, serial, etc for the whole batch and email to Andy and Sara once complete.
