Lizzo Posters For Self-Acceptance
A lot of times, they are more intimate and soft than one would expect, Lizzo's follow-up to her chart-topping hit "Juice" has a lot to speak about self-acceptance.



Since she first burst onto the scene in the year 2017 The effervescent hip hop artist Lizzo has become the poster girl of positive body image and has become an exemplary example of what it is to be an unapologetic figure for the movement. Her infectiously positive anthems, the viral "ho and flute" videos, and unflinchingly accessible personality have made her an unlikely yet incredibly exciting success story.


With 'Special' the second album to bear her name, the Minneapolis-based artist has shown that she's much more than just a poster girl for body positive thinking. She is a complex human being with a an arduous journey. It was not always easy, but it was ultimately worth it.


"Special" remains an excellent album, despite a host of upbeat, engaging songs. It may not be as catchy or effervescent as 'Juice', but it is still full of joy and a confidence that can be seen on the energetic title track as well as 'Boy'. This is also a record that harks back to jazz, blues and even twerking as a form of expression. The beautifully dramatized 'Cry Boy" is an ode to the blues. The song features Lizzo reinventing a classic tune with a modern twist.


Lizzo Plaques 's a pro at making records that neo-soul is fresh and uplifting while drawing inspiration from her rich musical heritage and the tradition of twerking in her hometown of Minneapolis. She's not afraid of going all out neo soul in tracks like 'Tempo' or 'Everybody's Gay', but she's also able to turn the most delicate of r&b tracks into something that feels punchy. Mark Ronson co-wrote 'Break Up Twice the thumping track that is reminiscent of 'Doo Wop (That Thing) with its horns erupting, and beat that is thumping. This track is about moving away from your comfortable zone and exploring new areas.


The latest "Watch Out for the Big Grrrls' reality series can be a great way for you to continue to send these body positive messages however parents must be aware that it includes many twerking scenes, reference to sexy attire and blurred nudity and even cursing. Although dancing isn't difficult but the lessons in the show about being confident in oneself and not being afraid to challenge yourself are very valuable.


Book More Women has been looking at Gov Ball as one of the biggest music festivals. The group has been highlighting festivals with low levels of female performers and non-binary performers. Their official tracking of lineups shows that the amount of women and non-binary acts booked at festivals has increased, however Book More Women has called for organizers to take more efforts to change this trend.


It's sad that the majority of the posters posted on the festival's website don't feature females or artists who aren't asexual. Book More Women pointed out this problem in an annual breakdown for the lineup of the festival. They called on festival organizers to improve their gender diversity. Although the organisers did not respond to this report, they did appear to have taken steps towards the increase of female performers.
