Death Knights Have Ruined The Game, Or Have They?
Nobody really likes to bring up the subject, but it really does pay to plan for funeral expenses. In the US, funerals can cost $8,000 - $10,000 or more. In addition, there may lots of other expenses associated with a burial. There may be debts to settle, medical bills to pay, and travel to arrange. In addition, many close relatives may need to take some time from work so they will not get paid.



Up until the day before dad died, my mom never gave up hope that he would recover. She worked and prayed for him to get well enough for their lives to go on together a while longer. She hoped against hope that this illness would not be the illness that killed dad. Now, mom, and all the rest of us, have to admit that THIS was dad's illness. It was the 'illness of which he died '. The Bible tells us that the prophet Elisha fell ill of an illness. It was HIS illness. It was the illness that would kill Elisha.

My brother Dane is in the Philippines now visiting his wife's family. It was hard to get hold of him to tell him the news. He said he already knew it because he had a dream the night before that dad was in heaven surrounded by Mexican's who were thanking him for giving them that gospel tract. (Dad moved on from Cuban's to Mexicans when he and mom moved back to the old home place near Glenwood.) Dad still talked to anyone he met about the Gospel, but he couldn't talk to the increasing number of Mexicans , so he just gave them Gospel tracts. Dad also tried to learn Spanish, but that didn't turn out quite like he wanted it to. I don't think he ever even learned to say hello or goodbye.

The Procession. It's also called the cortege. It's the procession from the funeral chapel, or church, to the grave site as a symbol of support by the public honoring the death. Our family and friends were led to the final resting place by the hearse containing the casket. The funeral home arranged a police escort for the procession and set up covered seating for family members at the grave site.


Why do the well-established funeral home marketing firms only make matters worse by encouraging their clients (i.e., you) to combine their strategic planning with a vacation?

And so, while I was making the bed, doing dishes, and folding laundry I let my mind wander. This went on for several weeks. Suddenly, the fog lifted from my mind and I saw my new goals clearly. I think they are good ones.

Acknowledging what you fear about death is the first step to overcome it. Talk to your friends or family about the reasons you fear death. Not only will you help yourself with your fear of death but them as well. Seek professional help if you need to. Death is a part of life, don't live your life fearing it.
