shares on American stock market became overvalued
ppl started to realise the shares were worth too much n started selling it bringing down the value
panick selling followed as ppl realised the share value was decreasing rapidly
this panick selling caused an economic crisis,USA lost billions of dollars
banks,bussinesses failed and employment rate was very low
world economy dependent on USA economy so the whole world got dragged into a economic depression
the number of goods made started decreasing as businesses were loosing alot of money
All this lead to poverty in the mid west of USA
This led to the isolationism of the USA
FD Roosevelt was elected at this time and made a new deal that alot of government money would be used on huge government projects to try and get the economy working again
In this period of time America only focused on issues going on internally and isolated itself from the world as they were trying to recover from the economy drop.
They became detached from the world and were unaware of the world problems
This made Britain and France more cautious as they realised they cannot rely on America
This encouraged Hitler as he did not have to worry about any interference from America
Germany was the heaviest hit by the depression,1 out of 3 was jobless
communist party in germany was strongly supported and democracy went weak
Britain had a wrecked economy and was very worried about its empire as it could not afford to fight Japan and Germany
France went itno an industrial crisis and war pensions could not be given.
People started supporting the communists in Germany too
In summary:
US became isolationist
protectionism and trade collapsed
helped Hitler to power
made Britain and France cuatious as they did not have strong military resources due to the depression
