Humans share two realities with each other and all other living things--birth and death. I know it's been the church's traditional teaching for eons that both dying and death are the consequences of the first couple's rebellion in the Garden of Eden. But there's an alternative perspective I've written about in one of my books. It is a perspective far more consistent with Judeo-Christian teachings and certainly more consistent with nature and biology.



There is a belief that some souls/spirits choose to stay in solitude for undetermined length.There are souls/spirits who choose to be earthbound. There are others who choose to re-incarnate and plan their next life on earth. Edgar Cayce predicted that he will be back on earth in 200 years.

DO offer up an expression of sympathy. Often we are at a loss for words when encountering something as final as death. Simply saying "I'm sorry for your loss" is usually enough. Be respectful and listen attentively when spoken to, and offer your own words of condolence.

For football fanatics, John Butler might ring a bell. He is the general manager of the famous San Diego Chargers. He died at the young age of 56 from lung cancer.

Many of the office stores such as Staples, OfficeMax, Office Depot and even Kinkos provide what is called color copies. Most of them have high quality color copiers that cost nearly a hundred thousand dollars. In other words they have to sell color printing at a fraction in order to pay for the machine itself. As of this writing Staples sells color copies for just.49 cents as well as their competitors. Some Kinkos will honor the funeral obituary program and give you a discount on the color printing. Just ask for it!


But would the funeral director still have the money for my funeral arrangements when the time comes? This might be one question that could be troubling you and the answer is, yes. Funeral directors or any organization that offers funeral plans are liable to the law. They are required to have the fund ready should a client need to use his plan. That is why funeral directors will make sure that they have enough fund to fulfill their funeral responsibilities.

Since we don't know whether our own demise will be lengthy or sudden, let's think about the peace that we want our loved ones to be left with. Let us love more each day. Let us pay it forward at every opportunity. Let us take more time for family and friends. Let us see more positive than negative in people and in situations. Let us put down the cell phone for a moment to appreciate what we see and hear. Death is inevitable, but the peace we leave is eternal.
