O ki, kahraman vatanın şanlı paşası...
O kasım sabahı, vefatından tam 77 yıl geçmiş. Onu toprak gömdü ama, tarih gömebilir mi hiç? İzmir'in dağlarında arıyorum izlerini ve birdenbire denizde beliriyor mavi gözleri. Akdeniz'e yürüyen orduların ayak sesleri geliyor kulağıma. Ve bir yankı çınlıyor dimağıma. Hani "Beni unutturmaya çalışanlar olacaktır" demiştin ya Ata'm! Andolsun silinmeyecek izlerin. Bu millet yaşadıkça meraklanma. Payidardır eserlerin.
Izdırabın içindeyken vatan, bertaraf olmuşken ecdadımın yattığı topraklar... Bir ışık doğdu ufuklardan. Bizlere tarihi bir kez daha yâd ettirdi. Türk'ün boynuna vurulan zinciri eritti o ışık. O ışık ki, yurdun dört bir yanına ad saldı. Düşmana bakışı yıldırım misali, parçaladı kalbini hainlerin. Büyüdü. Fırtına, kasırga oldu. Türk'e baş oldu. Göklerden gelen buyruğa tâbî oldu. Arkasında bir lahza düşünmeksizin atılan orduyla, şahlanıp yurt oldu.
Bir kasım sabahı, bastırıyor gözyaşlarımı güz yağmurları. Söz veriyoruz. Koruyacağız bu vatanı. Biz ki Türk'ün, büyük Türk'ün küçük aslanları...
