Experience a 3D experience. This is the challenge that inspiring New Zealand leaders put to the entire crowd of more than 2,000 primary and intermediate students from 147 schools at the National Young Leaders Day (NYLD) which was held at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau earlier in the day.
Students heard from Laura Langman, a Silver Fern and Northern Mystics player, and Cam Calkoen, an athlete and founder of the Carabiner Mentoring Programme, as well as Jamie Fitzgerald, chief executive at The Mind Lab Frances Valintine and Charlie Laumatia, presenter of Attitude Programmes for Schools.
NYLD events this year push students to live a life in 3D by dreaming, daring and building their leadership capabilities.
Annette Fale, manager of NYLD, says that an 3D life is like watching a movie that explodes onto the screen.

"Imagine what your future life might be like. Then chase that dream. Do the bold and terrifying things that make life exciting. Develop your strengths - there is more in you waiting to be discovered. Students were taught that determination, vision, and guts are the key to a successful career.
Frances Valintine was the driving factor behind Media Design School. She founded The Mind Lab in Newmarket in 2013 as a facility that provides robotics and filmmaking, electronics programming, and science technology to children aged 4-15 years.
Frances demanded that the next generation of leaders to be ready for a new world.
"To prepare for the future, you have to open your mind - curiosity will be your biggest strength not technology, not how well you can play Minecraft but curiosity and discovery," Frances said, as the students took notes in their notebooks.
"Wake up each day and think about how I can make things better.
The day was both inspirational and fun. Highlights of the day included performances by The Laughing Samoans, interactive gaming and 3D video clips.
Over 90,000 students from New Zealand have attended a National Young Leaders Day since 2001. Events are held each year in Auckland, Wellington and Palmerston North, Rotorua. Christchurch and Dunedin.
