When will Minecraft 1.18 be released? The monumental Caves and Cliffs update will forever alter the Minecraft worlds with incredible new blocks, brand new resources and stunning world generation changes.

Here are the Caves and Cliffs Part 2 and the latest news about Minecraft 1.18.

Minecraft 1.18 release date

Minecraft 1.18 will be released on November 30th

As announced on Minecraft.net, both Java and Bedrock editions will be available. This update will be part 2 of the Caves and Cliffs update, that was originally planned to be released as a whole with 1.17. However, Mojang decided to split up Caves and Cliffs across two major updates, in order to give themselves more time to work on the huge changes these releases will bring to Minecraft.

I'm talking about massive. Caves and Cliffs part 1 introduced over 90 new block types and new creatures like Glow Squid, Goats, and Axolotls; and new tools such as Lightning Rods and Spyglasses. Caves and Cliffs part 2 will completely change Minecraft's terrain generation and fill the most secluded levels with all kinds of new resources and oddities. Let's take a look the highlights of the Minecraft 1.18 update feature list.

Terrain changes: exploring below Y=0

In Minecraft 1.18 the world generation is being overhauled for the first time ever.

You'll be able to dig below Y-Level 0.

.

The new depth is -64. below Y=0, you'll be in the so-called "Deepslate layer", where stones turn into deepslate blocks. This is also true for ore veins where you'll find copper gold, iron, redstone, and more in deepslate veins when you're below Y=0.

There are many fascinating new cave structures in 1.18 because of the new underground terrain generation changes. The brand-new Deep Dark biome was going to be part of the Caves and Cliffs changes, however, this biome was delayed - along with its dangerous inhabitants, the Warden - to the time of the release of Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update.

You'll also need to search elsewhere to find Diamonds due to the changing terrain. Learn more about how you can locate Diamonds in Minecraft.

Towering mountains

Minecraft 1.18 is currently being revamped. Now, mountains are generated in a different way. Instead of having just one or two "extreme hills" or "mountain" types of biomes, there are now five new sub-biomes that comprise the various layers of each mountain:

- Mountain Meadow (Y=100-140): home to flowers and sweet berry bush The Mountain Grove (Y=110-140): snowy and home to rabbits as well as Polar bears. - Snowy Slopes (Y=140-170) They are snowy and icy where goats can be found. - Lofty Peaks (Y=170+): peaks of stone, snow, and ice. - Snow Capped Peaks (Y=170+) The same as Lofty Peaks but cold enough to allow Packed Ice as well.

Pay attention to the Y-Levels and you'll notice that 1.18 increases the maximum height of mountains. They were limited to 140 Y, but can now be able to reach Y=255. Lethalninja That's perfect for towers and castles on top of mountains.

There aren't many mountains that will be this tall, but only the highest mountains will sport the new Lofty Peaks and Snow Capped Peaks biomes. However, these changes to terrain are sure to provide a new feeling of exploration and discovery to the tops of any 1.18 Minecraft world. You can bet that I will be hard at work updating our list of the best Minecraft seeds when part 2 of Caves and Cliffs is released!

Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave biomes

Caves and Cliffs Part 2, which is diving back to the ground and brings two cave types: The Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave.

Lush Caves are cool caves that are filled with vines and moss. It sounds like Lush Caves will be a great place to play parkour. I'm looking forward to the most powerful Minecraft shader pack to show me these gorgeous caves.

Dripstone Caves are, predictably located in the area of the newly discovered Dripstone blocks, which naturally grow by dropping to form organic-looking stalagmites and stalactites. Besides this fascinating terrain feature Dripstone Caves are functionally similar to other caves however they'll be highly sought after just for the dripstone.

What are the other features that were promised in Caves and Cliffs Part 2?

Many notable additions that were originally planned to be launched in Minecraft 1.18 have been delayed. They will be arriving to us in Minecraft 1.19 at the earliest. This will likely drop around 2022. The delays include the brand new Deep Dark biome, Sculk Blocks and the Warden.

It's been further confirmed that at least three of the stalled features (namely Bundles, Archaeology and Goat Horns) won't be included in the Wild Update either, though the Minecraft team are at pains to assure us that none of these features will be cancelled. It's still a sad news for those who were most enthusiastic about these changes. However, we'll soon be able to explore the vast terrain changes that Minecraft 1.18 will bring.

That's a wrap on the main features and details of Minecraft's upcoming 1.18 update. Installing one of the best Minecraft texture pack is the best way to transform your world and rekindle the sense of discovery. If you're looking to have something completely different from the normal singleplayer experience, why not check out one of the many great Minecraft servers that are available right now?
