IER and MJFT Hotels of Flushing LLC reached a settlement on November 7 8th, 2018. Railroad Cancer Settlements was made to settle a lawsuit alleging that IER discriminated against an employee of a work-authorized immigrant in its hiring process. The settlement demands that MJFT pay an administrative penalty and educate the relevant employees about 8 U.S.C. Doi alleged that Union Pacific was negligent in various ways, including failing to supervise and train its employees properly. Doi also claimed that Union Pacific failed to adhere to industry standards and provide proper safety procedures. He was awarded $557 million by the jury.

A portion of the award of $557 million will also be used for the future medical treatment of the patient. In a similar way, another case involved a man who suffered serious injuries when his knee was injured in an accident while working. While he was able to get a portion earnings back, the injury to his body and career was severe. Additionally, he needed undergo surgery in order to repair his knee.
