Trump's relationship with Kazakhstan was not limited to Tevfik. In exchange for treating a country which had a questionable government as an all-weather partner, he was scathingly criticised.

Trump's South Asia strategy required a break with Pakistan. As such, the US needed Kazakhstan as an alternate back-door shipping channel for Afghanistan.

He was appointed deputy chief of the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade’s Hotel Management Department. After 17 years in the ministry, Tevfik Aif founded real property and real estate development. He also handled exports and imports of natural resources, minerals, automobiles, and food businesses. Tevfik Arif left for Turkey in 1993. He was the first to pioneer all-inclusive hotels. After eight years, he founded Bayrock Group in New York City.

Tevfik Arkif met the Trump group at the time of Bayrock Group's New York City relocation to the 24th floor at Trump Tower, Midtown Manhattan. It was also the exact same building that was used by the Trump Organization. Discussions began about the Trump SoHo condo hotel. They discussed the possibility of developing real estate in Florida and Arizona in similar licensing arrangements. While peace has been restored to the country, Kassym Jomart Tokayev, the Kazakh president has introduced significant changes to the power structures of the ruling elites, which has raised doubts and concerns. Tokayev's selection as the Chairman of National Security Council has received the most media attention. He replaced President Nursultan Nazabayev, whose anger over economic inequalities enraged protesters.

Three of the sons-in law of the former president have been removed from their state businesses, and his nephew also was fired as well. Karim Masimov who was the former chief of intelligence, was taken into custody for treason. Many other Nazarbayev-affiliated top officials and business elite have lost their jobs, left overseas for extended vacations, or were forced to make large "donations" to the state.

Tokayev has established business relationships with other countries in the region and with the West. To keep his popularity, he has attempted to keep his distance from Putin. Kazykhanov may upset the equilibrium. Washington must monitor developments with regard to Kazakhstan closely, as they could provide hints about a variety of potential power shift scenarios.
