Bandcamp Releases a New Demo This week, Claire Cottrill has released "For Now" and the proceeds go to For the Gworls or Everytown for Gun Safety. These nonprofits fight to help Black transgender people and also assist in stopping shootings.






Cottrill, a quiet, key-driven balladist, declares her love for a person. Through the course of her journey she realizes that she's letting go of the desire to delve too deeply into the events and allowing her feelings to rule her life. It's a deeply personal, layered piece that is emotionally and thoughtful, but it's also a rousing track to listen to.





In concert at Academy 1 in Manchester the evening before, Clairo put on a impressive performance that was certain to delight the audience. Clairo wore a simple yet stylish outfit and carried a guitar. She began the show with a slow, moody melody that sparked a crowd of fans to join in.





Following clairo merch performed tracks from her sophomore album "Sling," that included the title track as well as her smash singles "Blouse," "Softly" and "Alewife." She then took the stage to sing her own track, "Bambi," accompanied by a small orchestra of six musicians.





The music of the band matched the lyrics, that included the guitar solo. The rhythmic swell of the instruments as well as the vocals complimented the lyrics and helped them stand out from the background of noise.





A standout track is "Amoeba", which featured an acoustic guitarist and clavinet and a powerful piano. It's one of the most clear instrumentals in the album and Clairo's distinctive vocals shine in the track.





The new music of Clairo is a dreamy and low-fi-pop. Her songs blend distorted ambient, low-fi pop, with a hint sadness. Her music also reminds me of Tame Impala. This is not surprising given her recent collaboration with the Aussie group on their forthcoming album.





While it may not be her most memorable album to date, 'Sling' is an excellent record that will certainly please her fans. It's the kind of record that you can listen to while you sleep, and it would be a very pleasant music to drift into.
