Minecraft: Story Mode's eagerly anticipated Wii U version will start rolling out this week with the first episode, "The Order of the Stone," which launches Jan. 21. Developers Telltale Games & Mojang announced today.
Episode One will be released in the Nintendo eShop for $4.99 in North America and the equivalent price in Europe. Telltale announced in a press release the next chapters will be released "in the coming weeks". Wii U owners will eventually be able to buy seasons passes for episodes two through five for $19.99.

Telltale had announced plans to launch Minecraft Story Mode on Wii U last year. However the first four episodes were released on other platforms, including Android, iOS and Mac. Today, Telltale will provide details regarding the Wii U's launch schedule. The Wii U versions Minecraft Story Mode will include GamePad features such as off-TV play, touchscreen control, and touchscreen support.
The launch of Minecraft: Story Mode on Wii U represents the first time Telltale has launched a game for Nintendo's latest console.
"Working with Nintendo, we're tremendously excited to be bringing our unique storytelling style to Wii U for the first time, and we couldn't be more thrilled to begin the journey with a game like Minecraft: Story Mode that lets players of all ages to design their own adventures in the Minecraft universe," said Telltale co-founder and CEO Kevin Bruner.
Minecraft: Story Mode is a Telltale adventure game based upon Minecraft, the sandbox game developed by Mojang. Minecraft was released on Wii U last month. The episodic series of Telltale features Patton Oswalt and Catherine Taber. Scott Porter, John Hodgman and Paul Reubens are some of the other notable actors.
