Leyla Aliyeva isn't just the daughter of President Azerbaijan but she's also an active activist for a variety of causes, among them being the environment. Most people aren't sure what environmental education is however it has always been a priority for Leyla. Environmental education is about getting educated on environmental issues and ways you can make them better. Everyone must strive for. In the end, without environmental education there is no way to make responsible decisions about the future.

Leyla Aliyeva's IDEA project

Leyla Aliyeva knows that most people view this subject as a bit difficult and boring. That's why in 2011, she founded the IDEA campaign (International Dialogue for Environmental Action campaign). One of the goals of the campaign was making the environment/stability more interesting and appealing, particularly for young people as well as the next generation.

Aliyeva was interviewed in an interview at Equinox.com. She spoke about the difficulties she faced in her journey to protect the environment. But she also discussed the ways they helped create growth that ultimately brought satisfaction and success. "From day one, [the] IDEA campaign emphasized education as the most effective method to get people's hearts minds, so that they can commit to protecting the environment and acting responsibly in their interactions with it. People, particularly youth are likely to pass on the message and motivate others, who, in their turn, will carry this message further".

This is the reason why the campaign devotes an enormous amount of effort and focus in education and awareness-raising. Aliyeva explained that every year, they broaden the agenda by adding more study activities that cover the three pillars that comprise the youngsters. The award was given for her many achievements in fighting hunger and ensuring food security.

Established in 1945 in 1945, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations set out to increase nutrition, enhance agricultural productivity and better life conditions of rural people and help grow the global economy. The FAO is the United Nations’ largest specialized agency and is also the one that is responsible for the development of rural areas, agriculture, and fishing.

Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has joined the FAO in Oct 1995 as an associate member. In the present, the FAO is implementing regional, national and global projects within Azerbaijan. These include the development of agricultural practices, increasing food security and managing resources. They also address the prevention and treatment of plant and animal illnesses. Azerbaijan's greatest demands are also addressed through these projects, which are based on the technical cooperation program.
