Mine Amethyst Clusters to craft a Spyglass or Tinted Glass

Amethyst mining clusters that are connected to geodes may yield Minecraft Amethyst Shards. These fragments can be used as fancy decorations or as crafting materials to make Spyglasses as well as Tinted Glass. You will need to know the specifics of how to maximize the gains from shards and where to locate Amethyst Geodes if you want to locate these purple crystal shards. Here's what you need be aware of when it comes to finding and mining Amethyst Shards in Minecraft, and what you can use them for.

Where can I find Amethyst Geodes for Minecraft?

It is the easiest way to go underground and start mining in Minecraft to locate an Amethyst Geode. You don't have to go deep though: Amethyst geodes can spawn between Y-level -64 to 30 Y-levels. Geodes aren't difficult to recognize either, as they're very big and often cracked, which means you might see the faint glowing light from the distance.

Keep an eye out for smooth basalt while mining. This is the dark layer of an Amethyst Geode. Break through the first layer to uncover calcite and then move on to the amethyst. There are Blocks of Amethyst and Budding Amethyst as well as Amethyst Buds and Amethyst Clusters. Let's see which one is which:

How do I obtain Amethyst Shards in Minecraft from Amethyst Clusters

Minecraft Netherite is extremely valuable, but it is a lot more difficult to get that Amesthyst Shards!

Amethyst Shards are released from the growing amethyst crystals called Amethyst Clusters. They are located in Amethyst Geodes. If you mine amethyst clusters you'll receive Minecraft Amethyst shards in return, and they can be used to craft certain items.

It's important to only mine fully grown ones, since smaller Minecraft Amethyst buds will not drop any Amethyst Shards. There are three growth stages before an Amethyst Bud becomes an Amethyst Cluster. You can see them in the image above.

Fully formed Amethyst clusters drop two Minecraft Amethyst Shards when broken using any other tool and four when mined with the use of a pickaxe. The number of Amethyst Shards that drop can further increase through the Fortune enchantment. If you wish to collect the cluster itself you can use a pickaxe equipped with the Silk Touch enchantment.

Budding Amethyst blocks are the most suitable location to grow Minecraft Amethyst Clusters or Buds. They can be identified by the cross-shaped designs on their sides. You can't mine Budding Amethyst, but you can come back to find newly-spawned Amethyst Buds. The other amethyst-based solid block is referred to as"Block of Amethyst" and can be mined with the aid of a pickaxe. It is intended for decorative purposes and cannot be used to grow Amethyst Buds. If you wish to use Amethyst Shards for more Minecraft Blocks of Amethyst, you can use them to create them.

You can make anything with Minecraft Amethyst Shards

Apart from being a chic new building material, Amethyst Shards may be used to make the following products:

Spyglass:A Spyglass is a one-amethyst Shard layered on top of two Copper Ingots. Spyglasses are able to zoom in to see distant objects.

Tinted Glass: One glass block with an Amethyst Shard above, below and on either side, will result in two blocks of Tinted Glass. Tinted Glass is a building material which blocks all light (but you can still see through it). It isn't able to suffocate mobs but it can be reused when broken.

Block Of Amethyst This is for decorative purposes only. You can make the Block of Amethyst with four Amethyst Shards.

Time to search for Amethyst Shards and build that luxurious amethyst mansion!
