Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh created the character of Perry the platypus in the Phineas and Ferb television series. The idea was to create an opportunity for children to experience the chance to experience an animal that can't be found in the pet store or in a pound. He was considered as a capybara, but they were informed that the animal was popular. They decided to make a species that they did not know about so that they could creatively overcome the fact male platypuses can be venomous.


The show's main plot centers around Perry a bipedal platypus who is, unbeknownst of his owners is a secret agent of the O.W.C.A. During perrytheplatypusplush in the organization, Perry is under the control of Major Monogram (Phineas and Ferb from the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension). He frequently wears an oversized fedora to shield himself from Doofenshmirtz, and has an agitated beak to vocalize.


He's proficient at operating machines which include his own and others' (Phineas Ferb's and Phineas' inventions) as well as vehicles like Doofenshmirtz's tractor or the Flynn-Fletcher's recreation vehicle ("Road Trip"). He also can operate the lightsaber with great proficiency.


The voice actor for his character voice actor is Dee Bradley Baker who has also been a part of other Disney animated films, such as The Princess and the Frog. He is known for his noises like chattering, moaning, sighing, and laughing. He can sing, play the guitar and read sheet music.



perrytheplatypusplush has a watch-like wrist communicator. It is usually hidden in his fur. Perry The Platypus Plush uses it to communicate information to his superiors when he's briefed. It is sometimes utilized to open the computer in his lair (Phineas and Ferb's Big Idea).


Perry can often be found along with Phineas, Ferb and Candace when he's away on missions. To hide his preferences, he has been seen sleeping on the back of Phineas and Ferb's bed. But, it's usually because he wants them to place him in their beds (Phineas "The Doonkelberry Imperative")


Perry enjoys reading and listen to music in his spare time. However, he's got a poor sense of rhythm. Perry is an accomplished guitarist and can DJ ("Brain Drain") as well as sing opera , and read music sheets.


He is also very skilled in acrobatics. He has also performed many stunts while he was associated with the O.W.C.A. He has even got his own circus act and has permitted Phineas & Ferb to dress him as a circus performer ("Ready for the Bettys").


His adversary Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is another persona he often encounters. Doofenshmirtz was his first encounter. Perry The Platypus Plush began to monitor each other in the streets ("It's all about Time!"). ").


Perry's voice actor is Dee Bradley Baker, who has also been a voice actor on various Disney animated films such as The Princess and The Frog. Dee Bradley Baker has appeared in a variety of video games, including "Candace Disconnected".


The character's name originates from the codename for an O.W.C.A. agent who spies on the enemy. His codename is Agent P, and he has several other counterparts with the same codenames: Pinky, Pinky the Lizard (from Tri-Stone Area), Pinky the Excaliferb, and Pinky the Chinese. He is also the basis for a brand of toys and has been featured in numerous comic books.
