Theme: Responsibility is a large theme in Ender's game. Growing up in a way that Ender grows up, knowing he has a large responsibility, is similar to how a child grows to a teenager, then an adult, and continues to gain responsibilities through aging. Card develops this theme by exploring the responsibilities that Ender gains through the story as he trains to become a general.

Summary: Humanity, saved by Ender, through simulation.

Conflict: Ender's inner conflict is him desiring to be innocent and being unsure whether to leave his home at the beginning of the novel.

Symbols: The Giant resembles Peter and evil. The tower resembles jail or prison. The unicorn resembles healing, beauty, and life.

Genre: The genre of Ender's Game is science fiction. The aspect of a large war in space, simulation "games," and incredible technology create this genre.

Historical Context: The historical context of the book are the many wars that humans have fought with each other. This book amplifies and creates a world with a large and important war, such as many we have had in our history.
