Drawing through the exceptionally aged variety of casks set over the years by Chivas Brothers from the Highlands of Scotland, a mix of whiskies aged at the least 21 years are skillfully married for a blend fit for royalty. The Royal Salute 21 years of age is reference to the long tradition of firing cannons like a manifestation of respect or thanks for visiting sovereigns and dignitaries: the 21 Gun Royal Salute. In the past, this special blend has stayed true to its roots.
Rich, fruity aromas and sweet fragrance of autumn flowers. Powerful aromas of sweet pears and citrus fruits are balanced with full fragrance of Autumn flowers. Elegant aromas of sweet vanilla as well as a dry oakiness are enhanced with subtle notes of sherry and smoke. Full, deep fruity flavors with a subtle smokiness. The first taste of Royal Salute brings the subtleties with the nose to life. Sumptuous sweet orange marmalade flavors infused with fresh pears burst through the tongue. The 2nd taste earns a wealthy medley of spices and a nuttiness of hazelnuts that have a mouth-filling intensity and then the final warmth from hints of masculine smokiness. Rich, long, and lingering finish.
Even today, Royal Salute has marked each significant event in the lives from the British Monarchy and is unique of only ever used whiskies aged a minimum of 21 years in their blends. It is this unique dedication to quality and tradition which includes led to the informal motto, “We Begin Where Others End”.
