A$AP Rocky Is Building Blocks For 2016
A$AP Rocky started rapping when he was nine years old. However, it wasn't until his 2013 breakthrough single "Problems," that he became an instant star. Although he was poor and used drugs as a teenager, he made a career out of rap. Dope was also his film debut. A$AP Rocky has been taking a more experimental approach to rap in recent times. In a sense, it's a reflection on his own childhood.

ASAP Rocky is often referred to as a "pizzazz", because he takes rap trends, and blends them into something new. Although he embraces cloud rap and Odd Future's lo fi aesthetic, as well as Skrillex beats; his greatest gift is the way he can twist these things at will.

Rap is full of artists who mix genres and experiment with sounds to great effect this year. Chicago's Towkio, Rae Sremmurd, and Mike WiLL made-it have all released impressive albums that prove they are serious about being in their own class.

A$AP Rocky's latest solo album, Testing, will be the last of the year. It contains some of Rocky's finest productions, including those by Danger Mouse and Hector Delgado.

The music is more rock-influenced that it has ever been and some of the samples are very unusual for a hip-hop album. It's still one that is exciting and a huge step forward for Harlem rapper.

Psychedelic and Warped Needling Songs
The album is filled with unsettling, warped voices and needling whimpers that create a woozy effect similar to drug-highened sensuality. That feeling is best expressed in "Fine Whine", a song that was written by Rocky. Rocky's musical inspirations expand to rock throughout the album. He draws from the likes of Joe Fox, Yeezy, and street-sellers like Joe Fox.

It also has a hint at introspection. "Frankenstein," the opening track of the record, has been floating around since Virgil Abloh (the late fashion trailblazer) played it at Melt Fest in 2019.

Although the message of "no rules" is meant to encourage Rocky to live a life outside of the streets, it also speaks to his natural ability to transcend street culture trappings.

He may have a rugged exterior but he radiates infectious energy from his heart. He doesn't rely solely on his physical strength, but on his ability to ingeniously and persevere.

This mentality helped him overcome the difficulties of his childhood and allowed him to make such bold moves in his career. He was able to find a unique voice and create an identity. This is what resulted in the hit song "Problems".
