The alchemist raises his eyes fearfully. Their eyes lock, and the alchemist stretches out a trembling hand. Death grasps his hand and sighs as she looks skywards. His face turns ashen, and he shudders before growing rigid. The hand Death holds slowly crumbles to ash and slips through her emaciated fingers. A heap of ashes lies at Death's feet, and some of the ashes are carried off in the wind.

Dad sacrificed a lot of his own desires for the good of the family business. He gave up flying to be with mom. He gave up a large chunk of his freedom to provide for his family. He underwent chemical testing during the war so he could get more food stamps and furloughs to see mom. Unfortunately he became quite resentful about this over the years to the point at which he expressed regrets and did not like it when I would do my own thing. He died at 68 years old just two years after he sold the business. So from dad, I learned to be clear about my values and make my behaviours in alignment with them. This is a constant struggle for me.

And so, while I was making the bed, doing dishes, and folding laundry I let my mind wander. This went on for several weeks. Suddenly, the fog lifted from my mind and I saw my new goals clearly. I think they are good ones.



If you pre-plan a funeral, you will alleviate some additional stress during the actual timeframe after the death. Maybe you have had to plan a funeral for a loved one in the past and may now know what to expect. Every funeral service may vary so having funeral plans is important.

Cross: This is a foam based cross shaped that is covered in flowers, foliage, moss, ribbon or satin. These will usually have a flower swag accenting the middle of the cross. These are very formal and are to be sent to either the funeral home or the church where the services will be held. You can also get these in other shapes, such as a heart or a pillow.

You are (whether you know it or not, whether you can admit it or not) a complete basket case. You are a loaded pistol that has really bad aim and a hair trigger. And if you don't do what you need to do to get past this, you're going to go off. And this is not good.


Keep the footwear formal. Since you are taking the time to dress up for the funeral, don't stop with the footwear. Flip flops or Timberland boots are inappropriate shoes to wear to a funeral. Men should wear black or brown dress shoes and women should select shoes that are closed toed or peep toe. Their shoes should also be dark colored to keep in line with funeral etiquette.
