This means that there were too many people who were waiting to purchase his fraud to be at risk of me getting caught.

I think that the thing these systems rely heavily on is that gamblers, particularly people who gamble regularly, believe that there must be something out there that will give them an advantage. They will buy these "systems" in the hope that the con man offering it was once in their position and made an important breakthrough that was eluded them. The reality is that they have discovered human weaknesses and are snatching advantage of this weakness.

Slot machines today are based strictly on probability theory and the data suggests that over the long run, the casinos will win. You can win but you'll lose if play too long. If there were some kind of system that assured you that you'd win playing slots, both the statistical data and the probability theory supporting the entire premise could be biased in favor of gamblers and casinos would shut down.
