The throwback MMO was successful for many years, but without a formal guild system.
You'd think that guilds were a given for any MMO, let alone one that's been around as long as Old School Runescape. SAFEBIN The community has been forming informal groups for years but now the throwback MMO finally gets a proper clan system.
The Clan update was announced in the year 2019 (opens new tab) and now includes a Clan Hub in Grand Exchange. From here you'll have the ability to browse existing clans or start your own, managing recruitment and setting up ranks exactly as you would expect. Clans will have their own Halls, which are open to select guests.
Of course it's true that the Runescape community has been gathering in clans for a long time on discord servers and forums. It's incredible that the game took so long to implement what is now a standard feature for MMOs. The absence of formal clans hasn't hindered the 2007 nostalgia journey for being wildly popular-just last year, the game set an record-breaking 157,445 concurrent players (opens in new tab), and that was before the game made its long-awaited transition to Steam (opens in a new tab).
