We are one but we are many. This statement supports our Australian identity. One key stereotype that represents our Australian identity is the working class man. A working class man is known for his mateship, justice and the love for his land. I will be making reference to achieve this to the text The Castle (1997) directed by Rob Sitch and the painting On The Wallaby Track (1896) by Frederic McCubbin. The use of these texts will help me explain how Australian identity is represented by the working class man.

The factor of mateship is a key component of the stereotype working class man. Mateship can be defined as a friendship whom each other can rely and support on. It is important to the working class man stereotype as it represents our identity as a whole.
