Young children look forward to their birthdays. They feel proud about growing older as they will be able to behave like grown-ups and imitate them. As they grow older birthdays remind them of mortality, that everything has to come to an end and that we all have to die when our time on earth is up. We normally try to ignore the fact that we are going to pass away and that people will attend our funeral.
