Immanuel lahir di Wiltshire. Ibunya merupakan anak yang dibuang oleh keluarganya karena dianggap aneh, karna Ibunya menyukai sejarah dan hal-hal mistis. Hal yang terakhir dia dengar tentang keluarga Ibunya adalah Bibinya, Beryl, meninggal karena kecelakaan mobil.
Immanuel sering dijuluki anak langit oleh teman-teman disekolahnya, karena apa saja permintaan yang diucapkannya pada langit, pasti akan dikabulkan. Seperti saat PE ketika dia berada di kelas 4 elementary school, jika dia berkata akan hujan, meski cuaca sedang cerah, pasti akan hujan.
Dan saat ulang tahunnya yang ke 14, Ibunya mengajaknya menuju sebuah perkemahan musim panas di Long Island. Perjalanan dari rumah mereka di Wiltshire hingga sebuah bukit di Long Island cukup untuk menjelaskan jika dia adalah demigod. Anak keturunan Zeus, dewa dari para dewa. Hidup Immanuel rasanya tidak pernah semenarik saat belum mengetahui fakta itu.
