The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the primary component of a computer that performs most of the processing tasks. It is also known as the processor. The CPU is responsible for executing instructions and performing arithmetic and logic operations. It consists of an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) that performs calculations, a control unit (CU) that manages the flow of data and instructions, and registers that store data and instructions temporarily.

The chipset is a group of circuits that connect the CPU to other components of the computer, such as memory, storage, and peripherals. It serves as an interface between the CPU and other components of the computer, allowing data to flow between them. The chipset consists of two parts: the Northbridge and the Southbridge.

The Northbridge is responsible for connecting the CPU to high-speed components such as memory and graphics cards. It also controls data transfer between the CPU and the Southbridge.

The Southbridge is responsible for connecting the CPU to slower components such as hard drives, USB devices, and audio controllers. It provides support for input/output (I/O) operations and manages the communication between the CPU and other components.

The chipset also includes a BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) that provides instructions for the computer to boot up and start functioning. The BIOS is stored in a non-volatile memory on the motherboard called CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) and is responsible for configuring the system hardware, performing system tests, and loading the operating system.
