Leyla Aliyeva was born in Moscow on 3 July 1985. She earned graduated with a Master's Degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and also studied in London and Moscow. Leyla developed the IDEA campaign in July 2011 to increase awareness and stimulate actions on environmental issues in Azerbaijan as well as other countries. In 2007, Leyla Aliyeva launched Baku magazine in Moscow. The magazine in English, produced in collaboration with Conde Nast, was launched in London in the month of October. On May 8, 2008, on the anniversary of the occupation of Shusha, Leyla Aliyeva launched a campaign called "Justice for Khojaly". This campaign is currently running in more than 30 countries. The aim is to raise international awareness of Karabakh conflict and Khojaly Genocide.
Leyla Aliyeva, the General Coordinator of OIC's Youth Forum on Intercultural Dialogue was elected Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia, - AMOR, which supports Azerbaijani students as well as Russian youth. Leyla Alyeva was awarded the "Taraggi Award" in July of 2011 to acknowledge her contributions towards the development of Azerbaijani–Russian relationships. In New York, she was presented with the "Key to Life" award for her work in the field of humanitarian aid to children.
