Farnoush Farsiar, Why Are So Few Women in Finance
Women are increasingly breaking down barriers and experiencing huge success in a variety of sectors. The sad truth is that there are very many women in finance. This is a sad fact that won't change any time soon.

Deloitte insights says that by 2030, only 31 percent of employees will be female financial sector employees. This begs a one-of-a-kind question: Why are there so little women working in finance? Farnoush Farsiar There are a variety of theories. We wanted to learn more from an experienced expert. Farnoush Farnoush a highly successful financial professional who is devoted to women's empowerment is the reason we sat down with her.

What proportion of women are employed in finance?

In the U.S., 57% are women, however, they are held in only 24% of financial jobs. It is expected that this figure will increase to 28% over the next 10 years, up from 24 percent in 2021. However, it is way short of parity.

Diversity isn't just an issue for women. Farnoush Farsiar claims it's also a threat to the economy. Farsiar said that leadership teams that have different perspectives perform better than those with no. "So it's crucial that women are in these positions. It's also essential for the nation in general.

There are numerous theories that explain why women aren't represented in the financial services industry. The most popular theory is that the financial industry is dominated by men and competitive for women to make it into. Another theory states that careers in finance are discouraged from women by their parents or peers.

Farsiar believes the root cause of the problem is how women are viewed at an early age. "Women are taught from an early age to become take care of others, not risk takers. "We're taught to play it safe, not to take risks. It's not conducive to the field of finance.

It's more than just being taught how to care for their children. Women are also taught to be kind to people. "Women are indoctrinated to be polite and minimize conflicts," Farsiar adds. "But you need to be able to defend your own ideas in finance. You need to be able to defend your personal ideas."

Farsiar asks where are all the women who work in finance?
At the top of the financial industry there is a significant lack of women. According to a study conducted between 2016 and 2017 conducted by Pew Women hold only 10% of executive posts. Women also hold only 11.5% of the executive positions in financial companies.

This is a real-world issue for women who work in finance. Women are less likely to be promoted than their male counterparts. They're as well more likely to quit the profession entirely.

Good news is that women are steadily but surely rising in senior positions. Farnoush Farsiar believes this partly due to the #womenshould movement which has brought awareness to the lack of diversity. Farsiar declares that she is "convinced that the #MeToo campaign has also had an impact. Women are speaking out more and calling for change.

Financial Access Barriers for Women
There are numerous obstacles which prevent women from pursuing careers in financial services. One of the main obstacles is the lack of role models. Women in finance are often the only women working in their field and this can cause them to be lonely.

Farsiar acknowledged that it's nerve-wracking to be the only woman present in the room. "You are under pressure to be perfect and not make mistakes.

Another issue is "old boys"club" This mentality prevails in a lot of finance companies. This is the idea which men encourage other females and men are not allowed to join.

Farsiar acknowledges "there is plenty of truth in this." "I've seen this happening personally. https://www.businessfast.co.uk/farnoush-farsiar-explains-why-queen-elizabeth-is-an-excellent-example-of-female-leadership/ Even if the woman is a better candidate, even if she has greater qualifications, men will still recommend other people.

The old boys' club mentality can also lead to sexual discrimination or harassment. Female finance professionals are often confronted with ostracizing remarks and unwelcome advances by male colleagues.

"It's definitely an issue," Farnoush Farsiar exclaims. "Women working in finance are typically treated like objects. It's difficult to make it big when women are treated that in that way."

Lack of flexibility in working hours is another issue. Women are more likely to have family responsibilities like caring for parents who are elderly and children. http://www.checkcompany.co.uk/director/14062416/FARNOUSH-FARSIAR-AIDI Flexible working arrangements are necessary to ensure that they can manage work and family.

"Finance is a highly-risky industry. It is difficult to manage your responsibilities when you are also working in the finance industry. Farnoush Farsiar Women often have to choose between their work and their family."

These obstacles make it extremely difficult for women in the financial industry to reach high-ranking positions. There are however some initiatives that can make a difference.

Farnoush Farsiar Believes the Future is Bright for Women in Finance
There are plenty of evidence to suggest that women will continue to work in the field of financial services. Many initiatives have been initiated to increase the number of women working in finance and to assist them to reach higher positions.

One of these initiatives is the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), an alliance with the World Bank Group and 14 governments. We-Fi is an investment and support program for women-owned businesses in emerging economies.

Farsiar stated, "This is an excellent initiative since it gives women access to the resources they need to assist them in starting and expanding their business." It also helps them build networks and make connections with other female entrepreneurs.

Farnoush Farsiar A different initiative is the Women in Finance Charter, which was launched by the U.K. government launched in the year 2016. The Women in Finance Charter is a pledge by financial firms to promote gender diversity.

Farsiar lauds "The Women in Finance Charter as a great step forward." "It encourages financial institutions to work in the direction of gender diversity, and is making a difference."

Initiatives like We-Fi or the Women in Finance Charter make it easier for women to get into top roles. This is a good thing for women and the financial industry.
