Farnoush Farsiar discusses Why are There So Few Women In Finance?
Women are breaking through barriers and reaching great success across a variety of fields. The sad reality though is that the percentage of women employed in finance remains shockingly low. Unfortunately, this may not see a significant change in the near future.

Deloitte Web Insights reports that only 31 percent of workers in the financial industry will be female by 2030. This raises the issue of why there's not more women working in the field of finance. There are many theories on the internet, but we wanted to hear from an expert on the matter. Farnoush Farnoush a successful finance professional who is passionately committed to women's empowerment is the reason we interviewed her.

What percentage of women are employed in finance?

The U.S. employs 57% women, but only 24% hold financial positions. The projected increase in female participation is 28 percent over the next ten years which is rising from 24% by 2021. This is still way below parity.

The absence of diversity isn't only a problem for women. It's a major issue in the business world, said Farnoush Farsiar. Farsiar claimed that teams that have diverse leadership styles perform better than ones that have the same viewpoints. It's crucial that women be represented in these areas. But it's also crucial for the nation.

There are many theories that provide the reason women aren't being represented in the field of financial services. One hypothesis is that the financial sector is too male-dominated and competitive to allow women to make it into. Another theory is that careers in finance are discouraged from women by their peers or parents.

Farsiar believes that the root of the problem is how women are viewed at the age of a child. Women are taught to look after their children and take responsibility for their security. "We are taught to not risk our lives, but instead to play it safe. This doesn't work for an enviable career in the financial.

It's not just about being socialized to look after the children. Women are also taught to be kind to people. Farnoush Farsiar Farsiar claims that women are taught to be courteous and avoid conflicts. "But in the world of finance it is essential to be capable of standing up for yourself. It is important to be able to defend your personal ideas.

Farsiar: Where are all the Finance Women?
At the top of the financial industry there is a significant lack of women. A 2016-2017 study done by Pew research found that women make up just 10% in executive-level roles. Only 11.5% of boards of financial firms are headed by women.

This imbalance has real-world impacts on women who work in finance. It is because women are more likely not to get promoted than their male counterparts and are also more likely not to stay in the field.

Good news is that women are steadily but surely rising in senior roles. Farnoush Farsiar believes part of this rise in women's senior roles is due to the #womenshould campaign , which increased awareness of the need for diversity. Farsiar states that she believes that the #MeToo movement has had a similar impact. Women are beginning to recognize their voices heard and demanding change."

There are obstacles for women pursuing finance.
There are numerous obstacles which prevent women from pursuing careers in the world of finance. https://vuf.minagricultura.gov.co/Lists/Informacin Servicios Web/DispForm.aspx?ID=3898781 One of the largest obstacles is the lack of role models. This makes it challenging for women working in finance to become the only females within their departments.

Farnoush Farsiar Farsiar said that being the sole female in a room can be very intimidating. "You feel as if you're being expected to be perfect all of every moment, and that you're not allowed to make any mistakes."

Another obstacle is "old boys' club" This mentality is prevalent in many finance companies. Farnoush Farsiar This is the belief that men are superior to women and men should promote one another.

Farsiar admits "there is a lot of truth in this." "I have witnessed it personally. Even if the woman has greater qualifications, men still recommend other people.

Farnoush Farsiar This"old-boys' club" mentality can result in the harassment of women and discrimination. Females in the finance industry are often targeted for sexist comments and unwelcome advances from their male counterparts.

"It's certainly a problem," Farnoush Farsiar exclaims. "Women in Finance are usually considered to be objects. It's difficult to advance when you're treated in this manner."

Lack of flexibility in working hours is another issue. Family obligations are more prevalent among women than for men. Women require flexible work schedules to be able to manage work and family.

"Finance is a stressful job. It's hard to balance other obligations. Women often have to make a choice between their careers and family."

Farnoush Farsiar This makes it challenging for women to gain entry into the finance industry and take on senior post. There are numerous initiatives to address this issue.

Farnoush Farsiar believes the Future is bright for women in Finance
There are many reasons to be optimistic about the future financial industry. Many initiatives have been launched to increase the number and reach the top of the financial industry.

One of these initiatives is the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) which is an alliance with the World Bank Group and 14 governments. We-Fi provides financial support and assistance to women-owned companies in emerging countries.

Farnoush Farsiar Farsiar said that this is an excellent initiative because it provides women with the tools to develop and create their own business. It also helps them build networks and connect with other women entrepreneurs.

A different initiative is the Women in Finance Charter, which was launched by the U.K. government launched in the year 2016. Financial companies have pledged to gender equality through the Women in Finance Charter.

Farsiar lauds "The Women in Finance Charter as a great step forward." It encourages financial firms as well as other companies to tackle gender diversity.

Women are more likely to be promoted and get the chance to hold senior financial positions because of initiatives like We-Fi. This is good news for both women and the financial industry.
