Disguised Toast Canvas Expanding His Horizons
Jeremy Wang, also known as Disguised Toast is a very popular Twitch streamer with more than 2.5 million followers. His streams that he collaborates with streamers such as Sykkuno or Valkyrae are among his most recognizable feature.



Disguised Toast spoke to Polygon about his plans to build an esports team, and how he is able to maintain his streaming career along with his business ventures. He shared how he's utilizing social media and YouTube to expand his audience beyond livestreaming, the best way to get the most value from the esports community, and what it takes to begin a career within the world of esports.


The financial strain of playing professionally is one of the greatest challenges for an Twitch streamer in Esports. It's not a surprise that many streamers who are of high caliber have requested Twitch to ban gambling streams.


It's no secret that many of the largest streamers have expanded their scope over the last couple of years, and are now branching out into other facets of the entertainment industry. A few of these streamers even launched their own businesses.


These companies often produce merchandise inspired by their characters or work with other creators of content to create video games or movie-themed merchandise. Felix "xQc", Lengyel has, for instance, launched an energy drink. Rachell "Valkyrae", Hofstetter Hofstetter, on the contrary side, was the co-founder of a cosmetics company and launched an entire line of skin care products.


As more of these prominent esports stars begin to increase their reach, it's vital that Twitch's guidelines and rules are revised accordingly. This includes, but isn't restricted to, fixing the unregulated hateful conduct issue that recently placed Disguised Toast in hot water with the platform.


Disguised Toast Decoration for the ban wasn't clear, but he surmised it was because of the use of a slur in an older clip. Fortunately, it's a very preventable situation in that streamers aren't always able to look over clips they intend to use on their channels.


This makes it hard for them to catch slurs that aren't their own, and it's not surprising that Twitch decided to take strict stance on this case. They could have simply sent Toast an email telling him to check the clip and then he could help him in this instance.


In the end, the decision to ban Disguised Toast was made without any clarity, which creates a huge issue for streamers and the community at large. This kind of situation should be transparently discussed on Twitch, which can encourage streamers to modify their behavior.
