Death, some people have no problem talking about it while others refuse to. Regardless of ethnicity, culture, class, education, region or religion many people simply refuse to have anything to do with the subject of death. Here are seven reasons people fear death.

The Procession. It's also called the cortege. It's the procession from the funeral chapel, or church, to the grave site as a symbol of support by the public honoring the death. Our family and friends were led to the final resting place by the hearse containing the casket. The funeral home arranged a police escort for the procession and set up covered seating for family members at the grave site.

They also made me realize that everything really happens for a reason. After my mom died, I learned to enjoy life with other people except her. I've also learned to be an independent and be responsible in making decisions.

Imagine that death is an entity that you can fully sense. Imagine it as a fully-formed being or as a shadow whose presence you can sense or see with a fleeting glance in your peripheral vision. Now imagine that the entity is close to you. It is standing on your left side, parallel to you. As you look ahead, you cannot see its full form. But, you know it is there. As you walk, talk, run, or play throughout the day, death remains no more than an arm's length away - at all times.

Cross: This is a foam based cross shaped that is covered in flowers, foliage, moss, ribbon or satin. These will usually have a flower swag accenting the middle of the cross. These are very formal and are to be sent to either the funeral home or the church where the services will be held. You can also get these in other shapes, such as a heart or a pillow.



When I'm working one on one with a client, I will typically suggest that we hold a two day planning session off site at a nearby hotel or conference center. The goal is to get you away from your funeral home so that you can focus on the planning process rather than being distracted every time you hear the phone ring. I like to take a tour of your funeral home so that I get a better sense for your business but we should only hold the meeting there if you have a truly private area where you won't hear the phones.

I am sure you can think of a few others. I think the deaths of performers are really tragic when they die performing. The performers in my top 10 are unusual in that not only did they live their lives in the public gaze, but they died very publicly too.
