Coaching points for (short) passing:

Ankle locked
Lateral rotation of the knee
Swing leg straight back
Execution Phase:
Look back at the ball
back at the player
Keep ankle tight next to ball
Keep upper body tight
Arms out wide for balance
Make contact with the middle of the ball
Between heel and the toe, (middle of foot arch)
Recovery Phase:
Keep eyes on the ball
Follow through with the striking leg
Keep upper body tight
Ankle locked next to the ball
Arms out wide for balance
See where the ball has gone
Follow the ball, going off the striking leg
Progressive Practices:
Passing:
1. short passing with a teammate around 5-10 yards apart from the same spot, just working on grooving the correct technique and being accurate
2. passing with a teammate but with varied positions, with only the other playing moving so he doesn't yet have to focus on the peripheral cues of off the ball movement, whilst still increasing variance
3. passing with multiple teammates in a circle of 8 with one ball focusing on recieving from different players from different sides and moving the ball quickly, increasing the incoming stimuli and thus strengthening the passing and moving s-r bond.
4. passing with multiple teammates in a circle with 2 defenders inside, again focusing on progressing by adding in the stimulus of a defender to watch out for and increase his decision making further.
5. 3v3 simulated passing drill in a box, wherein he has to focus on his decision making further as there are even less options available so has to make a pass himself intuituively.
6. 7v7 simulated passing drill with gates on each side for each team and when passed through the gates to a recieving player, you recieve a point, however 2 if (player) passes it through, making them want to pass to him more in teh semi conditioned game, making it as realistic to a real game situation as possible
Shooting Progressive Practices:
1. 20 shots from the penalty spot, working on correcting technique within the shot, with no goalkeeper or placement just focusing on using the correct technique
2. 20 shots from outside the penalty box from varying spots, still working on correcting that technique just with the balls at different angles, but with more emphasis on shot placement
3. 20 shots with the ball played in by a teammate, to add realism within the training practices and getting the technique and response applied to various stimuli.
4. 20 shots with the ball passed in, but this time with a goalkeeper to add the extra stimulus as the movement becomes increasingly-well grooved, focusing on beating the keeper as a real game
5. 20 shots but this time with a defender that (player) has to beat in order to get a chance at shooting, working at adding that defender that would be present in a game and reinforcing the beating defender and shooting response, with adding gates into the corner that count for double points
6. 5v5 half pitch game with 2 goals, with goals in each corner for double, and double on top of that if (player) scores as well, giving him 4 if he scores in the corner, which will simulate real game conditions and reinforcing good shooting.
Timescale:
20minutes, 2x a week, in addition to normal training for 8 weeks - progressed through SPORT to 3x a week
Justification: 3 reasons, why its the priority and also an aim for example, 75% on target / passing success rate
