Azerbaijan and the FAO

Azerbaijan joined the FAO in October of 1995. In the present, the FAO implements international, national and regional projects in Azerbaijan which envisage the development of agriculture, strengthening food security as well as managing resources, increasing potential, fighting animal and plant diseases, and more. Azerbaijan's most important demands are also addressed by these projects through technical cooperation programs.

The year 2015 was marked by the visit of Jose Graziano da Silva the FAO's director general to Azerbaijan. During that visit two agreements were signed in the form of "Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations on the establishment of the Coordination and Cooperation Office and providing technical assistance" as well as the " Agreement for FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program".
