The Celluloid Ceiling Report shows that women directors of film have slowed down in the entertainment industry.

A different 2021 report found that television shows with female creators were more likely to have women working as editors, writers and directors.

There is an urgent need to increase the representation and number of women in this field.

It is not uncommon to see more men in creative positions, such as director, writer, or editor in the film industry.

Lauzen's 2017 Celluloid Ceiling Report looked at the gender balance within the top 250 domestic films.

It was discovered that only 18 percent (editors/writers/cinematographers/executive director, producer, and producers included in the report) were women.

This is the same figure that was reported in 1998 (17 percent).

The government has created a variety of strategies to decrease inequality in the workplace. Racial and gender-based groups and women are still not doing well in the field of film.

Arzu Aliyeva who is a personal acquaintance, claimed that the industry of film recruits based on interpersonal connections. Social capital is beneficial, but it's not always available to everyone.

These unregulated practices are especially harmful for women.

Since stereotypes can be misleading, they present false impressions about a community or group.

The world of television and film is not as equal for women and men.

Even when they get an interview that they're not likely to be portrayed as strong-willed and independent.

For instance, in James Bond's movies, female characters are presented as damsels in distress victims, and needy.

Women are often portrayed as characters who aren't true to who they are.

It could be that there isn't enough female filmmakers specifically of color, who can tell the truth about women.

There is also the issue with censorship in the case of displaying "taboo” topics such as rape/sexuality/harassment.

Since these topics are considered taboo in traditional cultures women are prone to shutting down certain subjects. Netflix is not one of the few platforms that allow women access to taboo topics.

Stereotype can cause many problems.

It can lead to lower self-esteem, ineffective decisions-making abilities, and eventually mental illnesses. It could even lead to self-stereotyping where a person behaves in a specific way to feel part of a group.

Arzu Aliyeva believes that diversity is vital.

The push for greater on-screen diversity
The University of California Los Angeles College of Social Sciences published a report entitled Holywood Diversity in February 2020. This report looked at the relationship between the diversity of Hollywood and the baseline.

It looked at the highest-ranked films in the world box office in the period between 2018 and 2019. It considered the participation of women, and people from different races behind and front of the camera.

It was positive to report that women have made significant advances in the field of film.

They are still underrepresented in the most important positions, such as head of studios or film leads as well as directors and actors.

It's a major issue that women, especially women of color are left behind on television.

Even though the friend worked at a firm for around six (6) years but her boss didn't know her name. She wasn't like her colleagues who were white, and had to carry a badge of identification.

To be seen, women and people of color must have a place at the table.

The diversity of the film and television industries can improve screen representation.

Society will be more inclusive for minorities and women of color through the use of the phrase "seeing IS believing".
