The indigenous response to imperialism was anti colonial movements, creation of new states on the peripheries direct resistance and rebellions. the Ottoman Empire was losing hold on its remaining territories here in the early 1800s; Balkans people sought independence (nationalism) & growing ethnic tensions in this region set the stage for WWI. they would have a lot of questions about imperialism and that led to a lot of rebellions. There were 15 uprising during imperialism and many smaller uprising. They would come up with a thing called the treaty of berlin and that would free Bulgaria, Romania, & Montenegro but put Bosnia & Herzegovina under Austria-Hungary's control. When Britain came to take control of India they would have a thing called sepoys and those are Indian soldiers under British employ; made up the majority of the British armed forces in colonial India by the mid-1800s; most were Hindus or Muslims.
