Leyla Aliyeva has set environmental education as her main focus.
Leyla is not just the daughter of Azerbaijan's first president, she is also an activist on many issues, one being the environmental. Though many don't know about the importance of environmental education however, it is something that Leyla Aliyeva has always considered a top priority. Environmental education is all about becoming aware of the environmental problems and how we can assist them in improving. This is something we all have to put an the effort to do. Leyla Aliyeva is aware that the majority of people see this subject as a bit complex and boring. The IDEA campaign was started by Leyla Alyeva in the year 2011. It's an International Dialogue for Environmental Action. One of her main objectives was to make the issue of stability and the environment more enjoyable and interesting particularly for children.

Aliyeva gave an interview on Equinox.com. She talked about the difficulties she faced in her environmental journey. However, she also talked about how they created growth which eventually led to satisfaction and success. "The IDEA campaign put education first from the very beginning. This was the best way to get people to care about the environment and be responsible. This will encourage youngsters and other people to propagate the message.

The campaign puts so much importance on education and awareness-raising. Aliyeva explained that every year, they expand the agenda by adding new study activities that focus on the three pillars the young generation. This covers students who are young and adults as well as children as young to 5 years. IDEA's educational initiatives help hundreds of people every year. They include workshops. seminars. lectures. summer camps. field studies. and even conversation clubs.

Goodwill Ambassador of FAO

Leyla Aliyeva enjoyed a wonderful year in 2015. After many years of volunteerism and supporting environmental and humanitarian activities, she was elected a FAO Goodwill Advocate. She was recognized for her many achievements in fighting hunger and ensuring food security.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was established in 1945 with a main goal of improving nutrition and production of agricultural products. It also seeks to improve the lives of the rural population and to help in the development of the world economy. In the present, FAO is the United Nations' leading specialized agency in agriculture, forestry fishing, rural development and fisheries.

Azerbaijan and The FAO

Azerbaijan joined FAO as an official member in the month of October 1995. Today, the FAO implements regional, national, and global projects within Azerbaijan. These include developing agricultural practices, increasing food security and managing resources. They also deal with the prevention and treatment of animal and plant ailments. In addition, those initiatives are based upon technical cooperation programmes that address the most important needs of the government of Azerbaijan.

2015 was the first time that the FAO director general Jose Graziano da Silva visited Azerbaijan. There were two agreements signed during his visit "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO) on the creation of the Coordination and Cooperation Office and providing assistance" and the agreement regarding the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program. Agreeing together to cooperate in a common area. The partnership program imbodies the active participation of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan to projects of technical assistance for the development of foreign and local agriculture.
