Farnoush Farsiar on Why are So Few Women in Finance?
Women are breaking through barriers and enjoying amazing success in many sectors. http://www.momexclusive.com/communities-2/moms/farnoush-farsiar2dccdd22/ The sad truth is, however, that women still make up a small percentage of finance professionals. However, this is unlikely to change anytime soon.

According to Deloitte Insights, in 2030, only 31 percent of employees in the financial sector will be women. This raises the obvious question: why are there such a low number of women working in finance. There are many theories. We wanted to learn more from an expert. We conducted an interview with Farnoush Farsiar, an accomplished finance professional who is passionate about women empowerment.

Are there women working in finance?

The U.S. employs 57 percent women However, just 24% hold financial jobs. This number is predicted to grow to 28% within the next ten to 20 years increasing from the current 24.

Diversity isn't just an issue for women. Farnoush Farsiar says it is an issue for the economy. Farsiar pointed out that diverse leadership teams perform better compared to those with fewer perspectives. It's important for women to be represented in these areas. It's also vital for the country.

There are many theories on the reasons why women in the financial industry aren't represented. One theory is that financial services are male-dominated and competitive for women to enter into. Another theory suggests that females aren't encouraged by their parents to pursue careers in finance.

Farsiar believes women's socialization from an early age is the root of this problem. Women are raised to take care of their children and take responsibility for their safety. http://nitka.by/user/Farnoush.Farsiar9jddaa33/ "We're taught to be safe and not to take risks. This doesn't work for an enviable career in the financial.

It's much more than being taught how to care for the children. Women also learn to cherish people. Farsiar says that women are taught to be courteous, avoid conflicts and keep their differences under control. "But, in finance you must be able to stand up for your thoughts. Farnoush Farsiar You should be able and willing to stand up for yourself.

Farsiar asks where are the females who work in finance?
Particularly at the top of the financial industry, the lack of women in the finance industry is alarming. According to a report by Pew Researchers only 10% of finance jobs are females in senior executive positions. And they hold just 11.5 percent of the board seats at financial firms.

This is a real-world issue for women working in finance. It is because women are more likely not to get promoted than male counterparts and are more likely to quit the field.

The good news is the growth of women in the top positions is slow but steady. Farnoush Farsiar believes that this is partly due to the #womenshould campaign that has resulted in more awareness of the lack of diversity. Farsiar stated that she is "convinced" that the #MeToo movement also was a major influence. Women are speaking up to make a difference.

Farnoush Farsiar http://dslesskazka.ru/user/Farnoush.Farsiar2kccbb11/ There are hurdles for women being able to enter finance
There are many obstacles which prevent women from pursuing careers in financial services. Farnoush Farsiar https://devpost.com/settings?from=info Lack of role models is one major barrier. Female financial professionals are usually the only ones in their respective departments, which could result in feeling isolated.

Farnoush Farsiar Farsiar said that being the sole female in a room could be quite intimidating. "It makes you feel like you need to be flawless every single day and you shouldn't make any errors."

Another problem is the "old boys club" mindset that's still prevalent in many finance companies. This is the belief that men are superior to women, and that men should be promoting one another.

Farsiar admits "there is plenty of truth in that." "I experienced it myself. Men will encourage other men regardless of whether the woman is better qualified.

This mindset of the old boys can result in sexual harassment and discrimination. Women who are financially successful often face demeaning remarks and unwelcome advances by their male colleagues.

Farnoush Farsiar declares "It's certainly an issue." "Women working in finance are typically treated like objects, and it's very hard to get ahead when you're being treated this way."

The last obstacle is the absence of flexible work arrangements. Females are more likely be responsible for family obligations than men, such as caring after elderly parents or their children. This means they need flexible work arrangements that allow them to balance their personal and professional lives.

"Finance is a stressful job. It's difficult to keep up with other obligations. Women often have to choose between their careers, their family and their careers.

These barriers make it extremely difficult for women working in the financial sector to attain high-ranking post. There are however a few initiatives that could help to make a difference.

Farnoush Farsiar believes that the future is bright for women in finance
There are many reasons to feel optimistic about the future of the financial industry. Several initiatives are working to increase the number of women in the finance industry and help them reach senior positions.

Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative(We-Fi) is one such initiative. It's a partnership with World Bank Group and 14 countries. We-Fi provides financial support and assistance to women-owned companies in emerging countries.

Farsiar said, "This is an excellent initiative as it provides women with access to resources that can aid them in starting and growing their businesses." "It can also help build networks and make connections with other women who have made it successful."

The Women in Finance Charter, launched by the U.K. in 2016, is a different initiative. Financial companies have pledged to gender equality through the Women in Finance Charter.

Farsiar claims that the Women in Finance Charter "is a great leap in the right direction." "It will encourage financial institutions to make changes to improve gender diversity. It's making progress."

Women are now able to enter the top positions in organizations like We-Fi as well as Women in Finance Charter. This is a good thing for both women as well as the financial sector.
