Jeepney phase-out has been the number one talk in our country these past few weeks. The public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization started on January 4, 2016, under Rodrigo Duterte's Administration. The Department of Transportation and Communications, issued a phase-out plan since 2002 but it is taken as unimportant and was not implemented. Operators of Traditional Public Jeepneys and Minivans protested this March 6-7, 2023. The drivers and protestors are seen in various places across the Philippines.

Traditional jeepneys have been part of the tradition, culture, and lives of the Filipinos, Many commuters have been affected by the strike. They are having a hard time to commute, because of the shortage of transportations. Phasing out jeepneys will lead us to many job losses and shortage of transportations.

The said issue had so many impacts on the life of every Filipinos, especially the drivers. Countless drivers will lose their jobs because the traditional jeepney will now be replaced by e-jeepney, which cost 2.8 million peso, for that reason many of them can not afford the price of the e-jeepney, despite the fact that the LFTRB said that a subsidy of 160,000 peso will be provided, however, that is only the 5.7% of the total cost of e-jeepney. With that in mind, it will as well lead to shortage of transportation. As drivers losses their jobs, we will be having a hard time to commute, considering that many of them can not buy the e-jeepney and traditional jeepneys will be gone
