A new generation of D&D players began to revive the rules in the late 2000s. The trend was largely due to the development of open-source software that let players modify and adapt the rules according to their own preferences.


Numerous companies have released D&D-themed board games, computer games and other media. Many of them are popular with adults, while others are more suitable for youngsters and teens.
