Two family members -- my daughter and my father-in-law -- died on the same weekend. My father-in-law was 98 1/2 years old and his death was expected. But my daughter's untimely death at age 45 knocked me to my knees. Never in my life have I cried so hard and so long.

Now that I've made that clear, I can reveal to you that you, a Spirit, are involved in a power struggle. In fact, it is more than a mere struggle; it's an intense WAR. This war is quite literally the battle of your human existence and it is waged between two powerful spiritual forces that are related, as I mentioned above: death and LIFE. Since you've chosen to read this article, the latter of the two is likely winning the fight. But pay close attention; understanding the relationship between these two forces can potentially save your LIFE.

I developed a weekly routine. On Tues, Wed, Thurs, I grieved the loss of whatever I just released. I played John Denver songs, like Perhaps Love and sat in my bed crying. Who would I be when all of the stuff was gone? Who am I without the titles of the roles I had been playing? Would I still be loved? Would I have value?

Even with the economy picking up a bit, 2010 was still a rough year for most funeral home owners. If their call volume was good, the margins were still smaller than they wanted and the bottom line suffered.

Let's face it-rope isn't very expensive. Neither is a bullet. Thirty seconds of electricity isn't very expensive. A handful of cyanide pellets and a little sulphuric acid doesn't cost very much. A few ounces of chemicals (Sodium tiopental, Pancuronium bromide, and Potassium chloride) might cost a little more, but isn't going to break the bank. Add to that the salaries of those who conduct the execution, and the ingredients of the last meal, and you might spend a few hundred dollars on a convicted killer's final moments, but how does that stack up against feeding and housing that same killer for the next half century?

I was stunned. Anyone would be. Even though I'd always thought of myself as a strong person, looking at my kids looking up and me with questioning looks on their faces was too much. How do you do it? How to you tell your kids their father died? I said it before; it's not easy. Even with all the books in the world and all the advice in the world, little is actually going to prepare you to sit down with the kids and tell them that their father is dead. I stumbled through the words. I'm sure most people do.

Maybe you have had to plan a funeral for a loved one in the past, then you would have an indication of what is involved in the planning process. If they had planned their own funeral then you would have been more at ease, knowing for sure what they wanted to include.

It might not be the best time to sit down and make a list right now. Especially on your computer. Because somewhere in the top 5 things to do, you will write, "Burn down my ex boss' house." This could become public at some point and paint you in a bad light, especially if your ex boss's house actually does catch on fire someday.
