อัตราส่วน
ในงาน ออกแบบ ภายในนิยมใช้อัตราส่วน 1:50 และ 1:100 ในการเขียนผังพื้นตึกพัก ทั้งนี้จำต้องมองให้เหมาะเจาะกับหน้ากระดาษด้วย โดยปกติถ้าตึกขนาดเล็กใช้อัตราส่วน 1:50 หากตึกขนาดใหญ่ขึ้นใช้อัตราส่วน 1:100 รวมทั้งถ้าเกิดตึกมีขนาดใหญ่มากมาย เช่น ผังพื้นของโรงงานขนาดใหญ่ ใช้อัตราส่วน 1:200 ได้ รวมทั้งเมื่อใช้อัตราส่วน 1:50 กับผังพื้น ก็ควรที่จะใช้อัตราส่วน 1:50 กับแบบอื่นๆทั้งตึกด้วย
โดยแบ่งอัตราส่วนที่ใช้เพื่อสำหรับการเขียนแบบออกเป็น 3 ประเภท ดังนี้
มาตราส่วนจริง ขนาดของชิ้นงานที่เขียนแบบจะมีขนาดเท่าของจริง สัญลกัษณ์ 1 : 1
มาตรราส่วนย่อ ขนาดของแบบงานจะย่อเล็กลงตามความเหมาะสม สัญลกัษณ์ 1 : 50
อัตราส่วนขยาย ขนาดของแบบงานจะขยายใหญ่มากยิ่งกว่า แบบจริงที่ระบุ สัญลกัษณ์ 2 : 1
เส้น
จำต้องนึกถึงความสม่ำเสมอของเส้น น้ำหนัก หรือความหนาของเส้นที่ใช้เฉพาะงาน และประสิทธิภาพของเส้น
ความดกของเส้น เส้นที่เขียนในแบบควรมีความดกแตกต่างกันตามความหมายโดยยิ่งไปกว่านั้นของเส้นนั้นดังเช่น เส้นหนามาก ควรจะใช้แสดงเป็นเส้นขอบนอกของรูปตัด เส้นบางใช้เขียนเส้นมิติ ฯลฯ
จำพวกของเส้นมีดังนี้ เส้นบาง เส้นดก เส้นหนามาก ความครึ้มของเส้นที่ใช้มีขนาด 0.13, 0.18, 0.25, 0.35,
0.5, 0.7, 1.0, 1.4 รวมทั้ง 2.0 มม.
ความครึ้มของเส้นที่ใช้ในแต่ละแบบใช้ทั้ง 3 ขนาดตามอัตราส่วน 1:2:4 อย่างเช่น เส้นบาง ใช้ขนาดเส้น 0.13 มม. เส้นครึ้ม ใช้ขนาดเส้น 0.25 มิลลิเมตร เส้นหนามาก ใช้ขนาดเส้น 0.5 มิลลิเมต
หรือหากเป็นรูปที่มายี่ห้อส่วนเพิ่มเติมใหญ่ขึ้นเป็น 1:20 ขนาดของเส้นที่ใช้ก็บางทีอาจใหญ่ขึ้นทั้ง 3 ขนาด ดังเช่นว่า ขนาด 0.18 มม. ขนาด 0.35 มิลลิเมตร และก็ขนาด 0.7 มิลลิเมตร เป็นต้น
หากใช้ดินสอ เส้นบางบางทีก็อาจจะใช้เกรด H เส้นหนาใช้ HB และเส้นหนามากใช้ B เมื่อเขียนบนกระดาษวาดเขียน ฯลฯ
