Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation, adapting the manga with the same title by Akira Toriyama. The show aired in Japan on Fuji TV from April 1989 until January 1996. It was later dubbed for broadcast in at least 81 countries around the world.


The first English dub of the series was released in 1996 by Funimation Productions, with Saban Entertainment as the distributor as well as Pioneer Entertainment as the home video label.
