ThunderCat Fridgemagnet Review
Thundera's one and only survivors, the ThunderCats have crashed on Third Earth as protection from evil. They recover their home, defeat Mumm-Ra and have some more adventures.


The team also has to deal with a variety of new challenges and threats, including the creatures that have mutated from Third Earth (the Mutants) as well as the Terrators and Cheetara's telepathic attacks. This series, unlike previous ones, is funny and rapid-paced. It also highlights some of its absurdities and the premise.



One of the most memorable scenes of this series is when Tygra along with the rest of the ThunderCats go on a trip to visit the Unicorns. They encounter Jaga's ghost following the trip, and he offers to show them how to use the Sword of Omens works. Tygra is dismayed to discover that Jaga shows them how to dance and to have fun instead of teaching them to learn the same way as he did when they were together.


Another memorable sequence involves Wizz-Ra. He is in the seventh dimension. He only communicates through reflective surfaces. The ThunderCats believe that he's ghostly and are terrified, so Tygra attempts to convince them to think rationally. She even forces them to use her reading glasses to determine if he's really there, but they can't believe that a ghost is capable of communicating with them through the windows in their home.


As a result, they throw anything that is reflective out of the window. When they see Wizz-Ra's face through Tygra's glasses, they assume the man is possessed by ghosts too. Shop For The Best Thundercat Merch is a satire on the 1980s cartoon in which Cheetara's ghost is caught in a mirror.


In the same episode Panthro and Vultureman realise that they'll need to send replacement Swords of Omens from Second Earth to keep their crafting capabilities up. They enlist their friends to assist them.


The ThunderCats continue to spend their time on a gigantic spaceship called the "Twelve Tribes" and go on many adventures. Even though they have many enemies however, they need to learn to trust each other and work together in order to save the world.


The Mutants are more risky than ThunderCats when it comes to Mutants. They do not have rules, and frequently use loopholes to benefit. Despite this, the ThunderCats are able to defeat them in many episodes because they're the "chosen" successors to Third Earth.


Apart from the usual craziness there are other themes that are recurring throughout this series. They are:


Regularly Scheduled Evil. The Mutants take on the ThunderCats every Wednesday in "Barbastella". Barbastella agrees to have an outing with the ThunderCats when they get so tired of it.


Has a phobia of being alone: The fear demon Mongor from "Mini Mongor" feeds on fear, but since Mongor is small, nobody is afraid of the monster. Mongor eventually gets too big and begins to crush other animals.


Malicious Misnaming: In "Prank Call", WilyKit calls Mumm-Ra "Dumb-Ra."


Tygra is a very strict control fanatic. In many episodes Tygra is the only ThunderCat who has his head in the right direction. He tries to reel them back in when they're too off track with their personal quirks, that tend to be less destructive than the other ThunderCats'.
