越早帶小朋友去看牙，越能減少幼兒對看牙的恐懼。 最重要的，平日家長也要協助小朋友做好口腔清潔工作和飲食管理，定期帶小朋友看牙，早期發現，早期治療。 第一顆恆牙會在6-7歲於乳牙臼齒後方萌發，也就是第一大臼齒。 恆牙第一大臼齒上方沒有乳牙，會直接從牙齦萌發生長，上、下顎一共四顆，臼齒上會有許多深淺不一的凹槽容易藏污納垢，成為細菌滋生的溫床，也增加了蛀牙發生的機率。
咬破了也不知道疼痛，若不幸咬破嘴唇，會腫得很大且持續4-5天，才會痊癒。 滿6個月到16歲孩童可以使用含氟製品，如氟錠、含氟漱口水、含氟牙膏，目前健保有給付6歲以下孩童一年兩次的塗氟。 注意在塗完氟後，30分鐘內不可喝水、吃東西，漱口，以免降低效果。 含氟製品也不能與牛奶混著吃，以免氟與鈣結合而影響氟的吸收量。 每次刷牙後用温水洗净，刷頭朝上放於杯中，放在通風處以免潮濕生细菌。 如刷毛分叉、外翻應及時更換，以免損傷孩子的齒齦。
外燴 哭鬧若用約束方式來進行治療，速度雖快，但很有可能造成小朋友看牙陰影，甚至可能會影響到成年時期。 恆牙是第二副牙齒，最先萌發的是在六歲時的第一大臼齒，大約在十二歲時萌發第二大臼齒，因此六歲到十二歲是孩子的換牙階段。
