Marilyn Manson Fridge Magnets have a unique way of delivering their message. Not only do these refrigerator magnets feature the iconic Marilyn Manson 'Logo' design motif, but they also have an assortment of fun little messages hidden throughout the designs.

Another notable image on this album is the 'Mechanical Animals' logo which features the number 15 squared over Omega's head. This is not a coincidence, as it is a reference to the number of people killed in the Columbine High School shooting in 1999.

The album itself is an exploration of Manson's concept of a character called Alpha and his alien alter ego Omega who are both lost in a world that they are unable to understand. In Omega's case, he is drug addicted to a substance that causes him to become numb to the world and is therefore unable to feel any emotion at all.

Omega's side of the story is told through seven songs on the album. These songs were written by both Manson and his long time band mate, Joseph Cultice. In many cases, Cultice's vocals are a lilting crooner of sorts and he combines his narrator voice with a distorted, almost screamed style that echoes Manson's own.

In this album, Manson takes a far less dark stance than his previous works. While he still uses his blasphemous image and obscene lyrics, this album is far lighter on imagery and tone. The music is largely inspired by 1970s style, Bowie-esque glam rock and most of the lyrics are more positive than on his previous work.

Despite this, the record does have a few darker moments, especially in the title track which is a song of despair about feeling emotions. It also includes the lyrics "I'm a numbing drug addict, I'm an alien."

Although these are just a few examples of the various themes that run through this album, it is clear from the start that this is no ordinary pop record and is in fact the beginnings of a new phase for Manson.

For the first time, Manson incorporated lyrics that were not only about his own abuse and sexual exploits, but also those of his girlfriends and family members. This was the first time that he had ever done this and his fans responded in kind, as the album sold well.

While the album was a success, it did come at a cost. The music industry was very sensitive to Manson's rabid fan base and his reputation for abuse, and he faced many challenges. He had to censor himself in some of his performances and cancel shows, resulting in a loss of income.
