Probably my biggest take from this book was the realization that you only become a true leader when people want to voluntary follow you. Yes, you can be appointed to positions of influence. But true power only comes when people accept it. The best leaders care about their employees. And the best way to both grow as a leader and help your team to grow is to demonstrate care toward employees and invest in their success. Some ways leaders do this is through mentoring, coaching, providing learning and development opportunities, and offering career pathing to help them move into leadership roles.
