D&D livestreams with a twist
If you're not familiar with dimension 20, it's an actual play series that takes the D&D ruleset and blends them with genres and fantasy adventures. They've been making some of the best D&D livestreams out there, and now they're giving fans a chance to own their own miniatures from the show's most recent season.
Creating Worldbuilding for D&D Adventures
For any campaign, it's important to create a unique twist that makes the world of a game interesting and distinct. When it comes to creating worldbuilding for Dimension 20, that's no different, DM and co-creator Brennan Lee Mulligan told me.
One way they do this is by introducing an odd twist into the fantasy setting that only their players will understand. A good example of this is the Box of Doom.
dimension 20 merch of Doom is used by DMs to make rolls where everything hangs in the balance during Dimension 20's pre-recorded campaigns. The Box is also a staple of the show's live streams.
In addition to physical sets, Dimension 20 uses a variety of digital tools for its TTRPGs. In the COVID-19 pandemic and Pirates of Leviathan, they used Roll20 for 2D maps, but in the past two seasons, Rick Perry's team have been using TaleSpire to create 3D maps.
Miniatures are sourced from Heroforge and ReaperMini, then hand painted by the team. They're often altered and adapted as needed for specific scenes.
During Dimension 20's live streaming sessions, they often use battle sets with miniatures to depict the battle scenes. They've got a number of sets to choose from, including the iconic Dragon's Head, and their own brand of candy-themed set - they've even made a Barbarian made of rock candy!
They also make a lot of food-themed miniatures, like the cake man and a cheese soldier. They're all detailed, and they look great on the show!
