In 2009, at just 25 years old, Rosie suffered a severe bout of depression. She had been married for four years, had a beautiful little girl, Alice, who had just turned three, and had watched her husband die of a ruthless case of bone cancer that took him from strapping, muscular, man of her life, to a wasted old man who died in agony after just six months. This was either done with swords or other primitive weapons, eventually evolving to include the use of guns. Imagine if it was still acceptable today to fight someone to the death, because they wronged you in some way. Or perhaps you simply just don't like each other. People would be dieing left and right. The most acceptable form of killing that has stuck with us from the beginning is war fare. In this case we do not have one or two people killing but a large number of people killing each other.

Isaac Asimov: The father of science fiction was always interested in this genre from a young age. He wrote his very first fictional novel when he was just eleven years old. Many of his books gained cult following including the famous novel I, Robot. Asimov died in the year 1992 due to AIDS related complications that caused heart and kidney failure.

Of all the generosity shown by funeral service professionals during this time of crisis, one funeral home and their employees stand out amongst the rest. John Scalia, his Son-In-Law Kevin Moran and their families have donated many funeral services free of charge. The first was a Postal worker who told his 21 & 25 yr. old daughters to go on ahead while he shut down the circuit breaker in their home. They never saw their Dad again as a 20 ft. tidal wave swept him away. He was found days later in the marsh land. When these two young women arrived at Scalia's Funeral Home, both Kevin and John immediately took care of everything and provided their Dad with a dignified funeral at no cost.


At home, his mother, eight-and-a-half months pregnant was having a very well deserved sleep. Through this whole pregnancy she has been amazing. I didn't tell her about my "news". I just wanted her to know how much I love her and wonderful I think she is. She thought I had done something wrong!

In order to truly understand the struggle behind the death penalty, we have to investigate where we draw the lines. One person can only kill another person is in the case of self defense. This is generally acceptable. Of course a person could simply claim that, and if they covered their tracks good enough than we can live with that. Does not matter if it turns out that it was murder, as long as we don't know it than it is alright. Again, we have another instance in life that is more about how we feel about it than the actual act itself. So, in a sense it is not the act of killing that bothers us, but how it affects our delicate sense of being.

I don't know why this scared me so much. Maybe it was because I missed all of the wonderful memories of a quiet, kind, caring soul who was there to serve everyone's needs. Someone who made a mean apple pie, and someone who gave the most wonderful hugs.
