Avanos Medical is recalling Cortrak*2 Entry Access System. Avanos Medical feeding tube The FDA states that patients have suffered injuries and killed by nasogastric or nasoenteric tube misplacement. The recall affects 629 devices currently distributed across the United States.
Avanos has marketed the Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System, which is known for its interactive display of a patient's stomach , or small bowel to assist in the proper positioning of a medical feed tube. Pneumothorax (collapsed lung), pneumothorax, perforation (a gap or hole in the wall of a lung), pneumonia, and the pleural effusion (excess liquid between the lungsand chest cavity) are just a few injuries.
Avanos Medical has described a plan to offer users current labeling to verify the proper placement of the nasogastric and nasoenteric tube prior to use.
