Avanos Medical and FDA issued a Class 1 recall of 629 CORTRAK*2 Enteral Access System, which is a feeding tube placement device linked to many injuries and deaths.
Avanos Medical feeding tube The devices affected were distributed between April 1 in 2016 and January 1, 2022. Cortrak 2 eternal access system These devices can be utilized by healthcare professionals to place feeding tubes inside the stomach or the intestines.

This recall is used to correct the information on the device, in order to remind users to verify that the tube was properly put in place before they could deliver nutrition.
According to FDA, "Adverse events include respiratory failure, pneumothorax, perforation (a puncture or hole in the lung's wall, esophagus, or the bowel), pneumonia, lung infections, and pleural effusion ("excess fluid between the lungs and the chest cavity),"
